Shop News CW44 2026

Unfortunately I have some bad news. The online shop and the business associated with it will be closing at the end of the year. Since COVID we, like other business, have been struggling. We kept hanging on, hoping things would eventually calm down and people could get back to enjoying their hobbies again. It looked good for a while but then the war in the Ukraine began and things took a turn for the worse. The shop managed to hang on and as long as it was paying its bills we decided to keep the shop open… This was working fine till the EU passed the EU 2025/40 bill into law (known generally as PPWR and EPR) and since going into effect on 12.08.2026 we have not been able to ship goods inside the EU.

The new PPWR and EPR law brought with them an insane amount of bureaucratic work and unreasonable fees and costs. This law requires business to register packaging and pay disposal fees in each EU country they ship products to. Not only this, but they must also employ someone in each country and give them a limited power of attorney to handle the reporting for them. This requirement is unreasonable. It is also giving a stranger a huge amount of trust/power, a stranger that may not act in our/your best interests. The costs for doing this, for many micro to medium sized enterprises/business, is excessive. This is a poorly thought through law that will cause a lot of damage.

This business is niche and only works if you/we have access to a large market. I have no choice but shut down the online shop and associated business.

The shop will stay online till the end of the year so you guys can stock up on any parts you may need. Orders will be taken till 23.12.2026.

The blog will stay and we will continue to work on the 250 project. I hope to have the CNC machine up and running before the end of the year and finally get to start working on the 250 motor.

I would like to thank all my customers, it has been an interesting 9 years.

Thanks for stopping in.
