Shop and Project News CW 52

This is a quick recap of the year and some new info on our 250cc Moto3 project. This year, like the last 3-4 years, has been a challenge. Parts are unfortunately drying up (even aftermarket companies) for the Honda and Yamaha 250/125s. Covid and the war in Ukraine has not been good for the motorcycle industry as people have less money to spend.

The racing organisation “Klassik Trophy” that we sponsored in 2018 up till 2020 has had to take a step back and will only be holding two events next year. I am sorry to hear this and hope that things will get better for them in the future.

We have had a few surprises over the past two years with Keihin stopping production of spare parts for the PJ and PWK/PWM carburators. A lot of parts are no longer available. ND and NGK also stopped production of the specific spark plugs for the 250/125s. Alternatives can be found, they just won’t be the same heat range (they were actually a half step 10.5 so will need to be replaced with hotter 10 or colder plugs 11). We still have a lot of inventory in gaskets and will continue to provide parts that are still readily available.

We are still here and will keep the shop up and running. Parts will continue to be restocked so if you are looking for something we do not have in stock, shoot us a message and we will do what we can to help you out.

Our 250 Moto3 project that we started in 2020 had to be put on ice. It is a big project that would require much more space than what we had available in Lübeck. We found a new property with a large hall and have spent the last 4 years working on improving the property, including having a concrete floor put in the hall. It has all been a lot more work than we had expected. We are hoping that in 2025 things will get real serious and we will be able to show you guys some really cool stuff. So, hang tight, the shop is almost done .…

The shop extension showing the completed walls. Since this picture was taken, the roof has been added and the windows installed.

The shop … Well, over the last few months a lot has happened. The shop extension is close to being complete. The roof is on and sealed, the windows are in and there are only a few things left to be done. We need to build the seperating wall for the dyno-room, wiring and the exterior need to be done… The dyno is now on the floor and will be set up when the rest of the building is done. Still need to buy some ducting but the fans are already here.

A wooden pallet with a turbo fan and a duct fan on it.
Just a few fans… These are the fans for the dyno room; both are matched at 2000m²/h volume.

We look forward to the coming year 2025 and hope that this is the year when we finally get back on track with our stalled project. We wish everybody  a Happy New Year and all the best for the coming year!
